Day #5 – John Pennekamp State Park

Our last day in the keys was expecting cooler weather and rain during the afternoon. So we were up early and started with a good breakfast of oatmeal. Before we left home, I pre-plastic baggied my own oatmeal in a variety of flavors which included: brown sugar and cinnamon; coconut and chocolate; and cinnamon.

I used a cup of oats, a dash of the sugar/spice/coco ingredients and then added two bananas while cooking.

Breakfast is served. . .

After a good breakfast, we headed to the state park to pack in a little fun before the rain started. We swam, laid on the beach, and went for walks on the trails.

As predicted, it started to rain in the early afternoon. We parked inside the visitor center and took advantage of all the free education offered.

A couple of hours later, we went back to our campsite utterly exhausted. All the days of travel and activities had finally caught up with us and we passed out for a FOUR HOUR nap while listening to the rain on our tent (and yes, the fly was on this time). 🙂

Day #6

The last day we slept as late as the sun would allow, made oatmeal, and started our journey back home to reality. It was a wonderful trip with my best friend to experience a beautiful part of florida.

Your Mom shared your blog address at lunch. After reading about your vacation, I need a nap…and my muscles hurt…Beautiful pics. You both look so happy.
